Miosótis-das-Praias (Omphalodes kusinskyanae) it’s a small wild flower from the family of Boraginaceae. Omphalodes means ‘belly button’ in latin, which refers to the shape of the fruit. It’s endemic to Portugal and today only a few specimens can be found in the coastal areas between Cascais and Ericeira. For this reason it is a species in critical danger of extinction. The rise of pollution, the climate changes and the resulting changes in soils are some of the reasons for the decreasing population of this plant. Given the little information available about it this is my contribution so that it is not forgotten.

Miosótis-das-Praias (Omphalodes kusinskyanae) é uma pequena flor silvestre da família das Boraginaceae. Omphalodes significa ‘umbigo’ em latim, o que se refere à forma do fruto. É endémica de Portugal e hoje apenas alguns espécimes podem ser encontrados nas áreas costeiras entre Cascais e a Ericeira. Por este motivo é uma espécie em critico perigo de extinção. O aumento da poluição, as mudanças climáticas e as consequentes mudanças no solo são algumas das razões que levam ao decréscimo da população desta espécie. Dada a pouca informação disponível este é o meu contributo para que a planta não seja esquecida.
